09/17/16  Spent our day in Wittenberg today, walked over 5 miles. Went to the castle church, Melacthan house, the college, walked by the Luther home not opened at this time but did go there the Luther displays for the 500th anniversary.  We worshipped at the town church tonight where Luther preached over 2000 times.

Pictures are me in the pulpit of the town church, part of our group in front of the font there, Luther ' s head stone at the castle church, the stone table top where many "table talks took place, and the 3 pillars at the college for the three studies - theology,  law and medicine.

Keep us in your prayers for continued safe travels.

09/16/16  We have arrived safely, with all our flights on time. There are 43 in the group from all over the U S.

09/18/16  Today we left Wittenberg early and headed to Halle where we visited the birth place of Handel and St Mary's church where we only got to glance in because worship was about to begin. Did a bit of walk around before we were back on the bus and headed to Eisleben, the birth and death place of Luther. All I can say it is very different from what I saw when I was here in 2002. In the preparations for next year  there have been major renovations to St Peter and Paul church where he was baptized and the process is going on at St. Ann ' s where he preached his last sermons.

We are now in Eisenach, and we have a full day tomorrow.

I have had some problems with my tablet and am not always able to take some pictures. Here are some interiors of the 2 churches today.

09/19/16   Spent two overnights in Eufurt. Our first tour of the day was a drive to the Coburt Castle, where Luther spent 6 months during the time of the Augsburg Confessions being presented. He put the time to good use by translating the Old Testament.

Then bus ride back the Eufurt, where we went to the church St Mary and also the monetary where Luther studied to become a priest. He had also studied there as he prepared to be a lawyer.

Today we travel to Minetz, where we will go to Wartburg Castle.

There is so much that they are filling the days up with, like being hit by a fire hose of information.

Pictures of the castle,  St Mary's,  college and convent.

09/21/16  Sorry I haven't sent any pictures the past couple of days.  First night didn't have very good service and am starting to get tired at the end of the day.  We are walking at least 3 miles a day and it all seems to be uphill .

We are in Maintz, the first night we sat outside after dinner by the river.

That day we had been Eurfurt and we were St Mary's Cathedral and the monastery where Luther studied. Those will be the first couple of pictures.

Yesterday we went to Heidelberg and saw the ruins of a castle and market center, the on to Worms where we saw the place Luther took his stand, the oldest Jewish cemetery,  and the Reformation Monument.

While in Heidelberg one women got lost but she was found. We spent extra time there.
